You know how you get those icky little gaps when you use the magic wand? And when you try to adjust the tolerance it just ends up selecting more than you wanted, or less than you wanted? Normally I would just fill the gap-ridden selection with my colour and use the old brush and eraser to plug in the holes, but in SAI there is a select brush that you can use to manually add to your current selection. It’s pretty nice to have these pre-made tools so readily available in a program for colouring line art. One feature that I particularly liked about SAI was the select/deselect brushes. I will be experimenting more with this in the weeks to come and report my findings!

It’s supposed to help make your lines smoother when you’re drawing freehand. There is an interesting feature on the top right called the “stabilizer”. How many people actually use every single brush in Painter all the time?) Features (Then again, I’m sure that most digital painters have a subset of brushes that they use most often. There are quite a few brush tips and textures, but the variety and customization is nowhere near that of the commercial heavyweights.

SAI’s user interface is simple and easy to navigate.
